A Coloradan on a Quest

MasterClass

Jessie Krebs (49), from Pagosa Springs, is a survival instructor who gained most of her experience during her 4 year enlistment as a SERE Specialist (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape). Often finding herself outdoors in her youth, she quickly developed a passion for nature and “preferred the company of trees and cats to people”. Her sense of adventure led her to join the Air Force. Within a short time she was tasked with teaching others how to survive in hostile mountain environments. Really, a crash course in the premise of the show.

She put in her 4 years as a SERE Specialist and now teaches as the head instructor for a global SERE Training School. Her goal is to open her own school: O.W.L.S. Skills (Outdoorsy Women Learning Survival Skills).

After being dropped off in her selected area. She quickly gets a grasp on her surroundings and sets up her temporary tarp tent. On her first night she is greeted by a bear that gets under 100 feet from her sleeping bag. After determining there was no threat she turned off her camera and got some sleep.
